We are confident that online videos can be a source of inspiration for children, help them discover new interests, learn more about the world around them and feel like a part of it. That is why we have prepared useful recommendations for authors on how to create educational, entertaining and motivating content that will appeal to both children and their parents.
To make it easier for you to navigate the requirements for children's content, we have collected the key principles of its creation.
While our list doesn't cover every possible nuance, it will help you understand which videos we consider appropriate for young audiences and which ones are not. In addition to these principles, it is important to remember to follow the general rules of the platform, which are aimed at creating a safe and comfortable environment for all users.
These recommendations apply to any content you publish. We are constantly working to improve our principles so that they meet the highest quality standards.
Useful and engaging content for children
Good children's content is not just entertainment, but material that helps a child develop, learn new things and form the right values. It can be presented in different formats, but must meet key criteria:
Key principles of high-quality children's content
1. Formation of moral values
Content should foster kindness, responsiveness and respect for others. For example, through stories about friendship, mutual assistance or health care (proper nutrition, hygiene, daily routine). It is important that children see positive examples and can imitate them.
2. Developing thinking and curiosity
Educational videos should stimulate interest in knowledge, teach how to analyze information and ask questions. These can be videos about science, nature, history or hobbies, interesting facts and much more. - the main thing is that they are exciting and encourage independent exploration of the world.
3. Unleashing creative potential
Content should inspire children to be creative, encourage children to think and use their imagination: drawing, writing stories, making crafts, writing music or sports tricks. For example, handicraft workshops, drawing lessons or singing together help develop imagination and creativity.
4. Practical skills and emotional intelligence
Videos can prepare children for real-life situations: their first trip to school, a visit to the doctor, communicating with peers. Role models so that children learn to solve problems and understand their feelings, as well as acquire other important skills. Plots with a clear structure, where there is a development of events, a moral and examples of problem solving, work best.
5. Introduction to the diversity of the world
It is important to show different cultures, traditions and characters so that children learn to understand and accept others. Characters of different ages, interests and backgrounds make the content closer to reality and broaden their horizons.
What content is harmful to children?
Some videos may not only be useless, but also negatively affect children's perception. Here are the main signs of low-quality content:
- Promotion of negative behavior or violation of social norms
This video promotes behavior that can harm both viewers and others. This includes demonstrating dangerous actions, irresponsible attitude to health, as well as encouraging aggression, wastefulness and disregard for moral standards.
Such content may include, for example, risky pranks that can lead to injury or psychological discomfort, as well as videos that popularize an unhealthy lifestyle - be it bad eating habits, substance abuse or deliberate violation of social rules.
Particularly dangerous are videos in which the characters behave provocatively, are rude or disrespectful to others. Such content not only forms negative behavior patterns, but can also have a detrimental effect, especially on a young audience prone to imitation.
Thus, such videos not only violate ethical standards, but also contribute to the spread of destructive attitudes in society.
- False educational value
If a video is positioned as educational, but in fact does not provide useful knowledge (for example, it teaches colors or counting incorrectly), it misleads children.
- Meaninglessness and poor quality
Content without a clear plot, with a confusing presentation or technical flaws (poor sound, unintelligible speech) is not only uninteresting, but can also be irritating.
- Deception and manipulation
Videos with false statements, strange scenarios or abuse of children's topics (for example, distorted images of favorite characters) can confuse children and form a distorted perception of reality.
PURPOSE OF THE PLATFORM
